Doris Jackson, long-time resident of Flin Flon, MB, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the age of 92 years. Doris Mary (Johnston) Jackson was born in Morden, MB, to Lydia and Thomas Johnston.
Doris married Harvey Jackson on November 17, 1937, in Mowbray, MB. They moved to Flin Flon on May 24, 1941, and settled into their home on Tweedsmuir Street in 1943. Doris and Harvey raised twelve children: seven girls and five boys. Doris and Harvey lived in their home for 37 years until Harvey passed away in 1980. Doris continued to live there for another eight years.
Doris moved to Rotary Court in 1988 and called this place home for 22 years. She lived in Legion Housing for the past 2 1/2 years.
Over her many years Doris’ smile and happy way allowed her to make many long-time friends. She was a lifetime member of the Flin Flon Seniors and belonged to the seniors’ choir. Doris was also a long-time member of the Presbyterian Church. Doris was an avid card player as well as a family lawn dart champion.
Doris will be missed and fondly remembered by everyone who knew her. She will always be loved and sadly missed by her children and family, her 43 grandchildren, 77 great grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren, 12 step-grand/great grandchildren, and her sister Ellen.
